Lost in the Lounge

This orange floral dress with high neck and long sleeves is like a blanket of armour protecting her while she curls into the lounge for comfort and safety.

I started this painting last year after moving house and confronting my new life post breakup. I needed a period of hibernation after surviving the whirlwind. Feeling safe, comforted, and protected was necessary in order to conserve my energy and eventually shift from surviving into healing. I spent a fair amount of time curled up in bed or on the lounge (couch).
